JUNIOR ROWING

Junior Rowing at Worthing Rowing Club - Enquire at junior.worthingrc@gmail.com
At Worthing Rowing Club, we offer a fantastic junior rowing program designed to encourage a love of the sport while providing opportunities for personal growth, teamwork, and achievement. Juniors can race with other kids until they’re 16 and can continue training with their peers up to 18. After 16, there’s the chance to race alongside adult rowers, expanding their experience and helping them transition smoothly between different levels of competition.
Our junior program is structured for all abilities, with categories for Under 14s (mixed) and Under 16s (boys and girls), and the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, including coxing, sweeping, and sculling. Juniors begin by learning to row in quads and, from age 15, have the chance to explore sweeping techniques.
At Worthing Rowing Club, we focus on creating a positive and inclusive environment where young athletes can gain confidence, improve their physical fitness, and make lifelong friends. Our coaches are fully DBS-checked and first aid-trained to ensure the safety and well-being of every participant. Plus, there are plenty of social opportunities, fundraising activities, and even chances to help support members through programs like the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award and GCSE PE coursework. Whether it's helping with homework, cooking meals, or getting involved in club socials, WRC provides a supportive community where young rowers can grow both as athletes and individuals.
For parents, we offer easy access to all club communications via the Spond app. This allows juniors to take responsibility for their own schedules while keeping you informed about important updates and events. And if you're curious about what we do at the club, we host occasional parent-child sessions and we're happy to arrange a tour of our facilities.
