CONCEPT2 WORLD RECORD

Four days. One goal. A record-breaking journey.
Worthing Girls Smash World Record in Epic 4-Day Row!
On the 1st of January 2020, seven determined young women from Worthing Rowing Club set out to achieve something extraordinary: breaking the Concept2 World Record for the longest continuous row in the Female 19 & Under Heavyweight category. Over the course of four grueling days and nights, Izzy Hooker, Issy Walker, Olivia Griggs, Florence Locks, Aoife Montagner, Daisy Chamberlain, and Freya Hooker rowed in hour-long shifts, each spending an incredible 14 hours on the machine to reach their goal.
With unwavering commitment, the girls not only smashed the world and national record but also raised an impressive £5,500 towards a new boat for the club. But it wasn’t just about rowing—along the way, Florence celebrated her birthday, the team discovered a passion for crafts, and their Just Dance skills reached new heights!
Above all, the most unforgettable part of the challenge was the bond they built together, proving that true teamwork and resilience can achieve the impossible. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this momentous achievement possible!
